About Us

In 2009, a F4 tornado hit Murfreesboro, TN, causing damage and loss. It was then that we decided to begin building shelters so that people in the community would have options and could be safe. All of our shelters are made in our manufacturing facility in Middle Tennessee and are 100% made in the USA. We have been in the manufacturing and fabricating industry for 25+ years and leverage the knowledge and expertise to provide economical storm shelters. All of our units were tested at Texas Tech Wind Engineering and exceed NSSA Standard and FEMA 320 certifications.

“When tragedy struck our hometown, I knew it was time to take action and create shelters so I could protect my loved ones and my community.” Jeff Turner, President, National Storm Shelters LLC

Since 2009, we have given peace of mind to 1,200+ families in Middle TN and the surrounding areas.

Dear Sirs, I wanted to thank you all for a job well done. Brad and Ken arrived as promised and were able to complete the installation of our new storm shelter in one day, in spite of hitting some rock near the bottom of the hole. They obviously know their work very well, and took care not to damage anything in the process. My wife Debbie and I feel a lot safer when there is an approaching storm, and highly recommend your shelter to anyone considering purchasing one.
Thank you again. Sincerely,

Duane M. -- Old Hickory, Tennessee

To NSS,

For several years my wife and I have been concerned about the violent weather so often frequents Middle Tennessee. Each spring we have watched as tornados and straight winds have killed and injured so many people. We live in the Hermitage area of Davidson County where tornados have struck nearby on several occasions.

Last year we purchased an in-ground storm shelter from National Storm Shelters located in Smyrna. The unit was placed under our garage floor and was ready for use in less than 24 hours. Already this year the local tornado sirens have sounded on several occasions and one recent storm caused severe damage in less than 500 yards from our home. We cannot place a price on the peace of mind we now have when storms move through our neighborhood. National Storms Shelters placed our storm shelter exactly where we wanted it. They did the work on the date as scheduled and were professional using the upmost “Southern Hospitality”.

I highly recommend National Storm Shelters to everyone. A storm shelter can save lives and that is priceless.

Sincerely,

Kayla P. -- Ooltewah, TN

We got our safe room installed today and I’m so thankful for the peace of mind it has given us. I do not have to feel helpless in protecting my children during a tornado warning ever again. I highly recommend National Storm Shelters! Thanks for being so polite, timely and just awesome throughout the whole process guys!

The install went great. They came on time, were courteous, and efficient. I’ve already had my neighbors come check it out.

Thanks,

Dear National Storm Shelters,

We just wanted to send you a quick note to thank you and your installation team for the excellent job they did on our storm shelter. We are very impressed with the work the guys did and appreciate the attention to details. I am still surprised at the cleanup job they did. I hope that we never need to use our shelter, but if we do,
I feel much better about our safety.
Thanks again,

Allen, Melissa & Collin H. -- Gallatin, TN

During a recent severe storm, we found ourselves huddled in our utility room over our 16-month-old son with a laundry basket over our heads for protection. We decided that day to take an active role in protecting ourselves against the severe weather that seems to get worse every year here in the Southeast. After doing our research, we chose the NSS underground shelter for several reasons:

We contacted FEMA for their recommendation on the type of storm shelter we should install in our home, and they advised that in a home such as ours with a garage but no basement, an underground shelter was our safest option.
The first conversation we had with an NSS employee, we were treated as though we were their most valued client, and we genuinely felt that providing this protective shelter for our family was their first priority.
Their shelters meet FEMA safety guidelines.
The shelter was installed in our garage, so we would not have to go outside in the severe weather to get in the shelter.
NSS shelters are more reasonably priced and worked with us on financing.

The installers worked efficiently and neatly and made sure we felt comfortable getting in and out of our shelter before they left. They even positioned the shelter in a way that allows us to access it with our cars parked in the garage. After working with National Storm Shelters to install an underground storm shelter in our garage, I would confidently recommend NSS to anyone ready to take an active role in protecting their family against severe storms.

Sincerely,
